How Bangalore has become the true land for successful BPO.

For those un-initiated with modern MNC (Multi National Company) lingo, BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing. For the rest of us, it’s pushing off work so it gets done more easily, cheaply, yet seamlessly.

There’s every ingredient of the best quality right at home for a perfect breakfast. Yet how many times a week do you have one at home? Once? Twice? Bet not more than that! At least not with most home-maker-managed households.

For one reason or the other the breakfast process gets outsourced, repetition no bar: Night-outs due to stupid reality TV shows, too many guests, tiredness, “very cold today”, laziness (…and war-of-words, smirk!) … a whole gamut of humanly imaginable excuses!

As your eyes squeak open to yet another day, the home-maker sweetly remarks, “We’ll be unable to make something for breakfast today…”
“Isn’t there even bread at home, you could just toast it…”
“There isn’t. Wonder whoever said you are smart… couldn’t you have bought some yesterday?”
“Hmm… Ok. So what do you want? And you…? Are you sure? You did not like it yesterday…” Your expertise in making mental notes of the items and quantities could put seasoned waiters to shame. Special orders are also a breeze for you: “And please don’t get it from the same hotel – I am tired of the bland chutney. And I cannot clean another vessel for the sambar.” (…think of beggars not being choosers…)

Next, you are off with the familiar wire basket to your favourite hotel. [This habit might even earn you envious titles: My catch: “Butti Raja”] En route, you inevitably stumble into a friend who invariably repeats with a wide grin: “BPO today too?” You grumble, groan, hide feelings with a wider grin, agree and hurry off without looking back; for fear that someone else known might be gaining on you…

At long last, you see yourself with the familiar waiter in the wee hours at one of your favourite hotels. While you break your fast, the parcels for home get ready.
Once back home satisfied, the waiting, gaping mouths attack before asking “So what did you have there?” As direct as BPO can get!

Health apart (which has, touchwood, so far not been affected….badly), thank goodness for all the “machinery” that runs the popular “MNC”s like Janata Hotel, CTR, Sanman, Chalukya, the innumerable Darshinis to name a few – life would have had a tough starting problem without them. What a feasible, workable, Bangalore-able solution BPO is!
