US business corporations are subject to penalties when they disobey law practices of America in other countries that do not have the same cultural norms.

Is it right for U.S. companies to be penalized for going along with cultural norms in other countries?

Yes, it is right for U.S. companies to be penalized for going along with cultural norms in other countries because it is up to our country to set the standard for ethical business practices all over the world.  It is also not fair to the businesses who follow ethical business guidelines and do not use bribery.  These are the companies who you can trust, and it is not fair they have to watch these other corrupt companies steal the profits of the market share.

Is it right for the United States and other countries to demand that businesses in other countries follow our laws?

Yes, it is right that we demand other countries to follow our ethical practices, in which some countries already have, because it is the right thing to do.  Some country has to step up and set the standard and example for everyone else to follow in right and wrong business practices.  Corruption and bribery is the cultural wrong in our country, and if you are and American, then why wouldn’t you want to see our practices being followed in all countries?  Especially when it is taking up $1 trillion annually.  I’m not so sure I agree with the death penalty, like in China, unless there are murders involved; but prison time seems to be fair.
