A Survey on the Profile of Optical Business at Dagupan City
This research was conducted to know the profile of optical business at Dagupan City. There were a total of 22 respondents of this study,18 were registered as per record of the DTI while 4 were un registered gathered from the CMO.
Descriptive quantitative research is describes and interprets what it. It is concerned with conditions and profile of the business. Questionnaires are the most common form used in surveys as well as experiments. This study was conducted in Dagupan City, respondents were gathered out of the overall population operating optical business in Dagupan City.
The result shows that the ages of the respondents were group into three, (a) 18-30 yrs. Old with 7 respondents or 32%; 31-54 with 12 respondents or 55%; 55 & above had 3 respondents or 13%; of the overall respondents of 22.Majority of the optical business operator in Dagupan City were female wherein out of 22 respondents, 9 (41%) were male and 13 (59%) were female. Out of 22 respondents, 15 (68%) of the consumers were married; 4 (18%) were single; 1 (5%) were separated and 2 (9%) were widowed. All of the respondents finished their college degree; all of them took optometry degree. Majority of the optical operators were graduate of Optometry course. The respondents revealed that their source of capital and allocation for their expenses comes from their personal savings with 16 (73%) respondents and 6 (27%) of the respondents revealed that their sources of capital are from loans. As to the profile of the respondents as to frequency of purchase of inventory 18% of the respondents purchase their product weekly; 32% of the respondents purchase their product twice a month, 27% of the respondents purchase their product monthly, 23% of the respondents purchase their product every three months. Average monthly expenses of optical owners in Dagupan City, majority of the respondents pay their maintenance and other operating expense ranging to 50,000-90,999 monthly.
Based on the data presented conclusion is drawn that most of the optical owners are adults ranging from 31-54 years old. Majority of the responses shows that the respondents established their business using their personal savings. Others acquire their sources of capital by securing loans to finance their optical business. One of the major problems they encountered is lack of stock available for sale. Researchers further conclude that business succeeds not only from the size of the operation or the sources of capital, but also on the manners of the owners to manage the operations and deal with their customers and employees. In relation to the above findings and conclusions the researchers recommend that those optometrists should find more time and efforts to increase the income to eventually increase their capital.
