Good-bye Mcdonald’s
Due to a weak Krona, McDonald’s is leaving Iceland.
After being in the country for sixteen years, McDonald’s is leaving Iceland. There are three restaurants , all in the capital, and none are making a profit.
Due to a requirement from McDonald’s, all produce and materials for the resturants had to be bought from Germany. With taxes and tariffs and the affects of a lousy world economy, selling a Big Whopper would cost over six US dollars making it the most expensive hamburger in the world.
McDonald’s representatives agree with the decision and are not looking for someone else to open up any stores.
The owner of the three McDonald stores plans on keeping them and his employees. He will just rename the restaurants and buy all of his materials and produce locally. This way he has a chance to compete with other businesses.
