Intangible Assets that Enables Us to Reach Success
If we talk about intangible assets, Donald Trump, U.S. millionaire is the right man to talk about. In year 1980 to 1990, Trump was known as a successful real estate businessman with private assets about one million US dollar. He wrote two books in the peak of his success: “The Art of The Deal” and “Surviving at the Top”. However, things were never always easy for Trump.
At the end of 1990, the real estate stocks were fallen drastically. In one night Trump lost his wealth. Trump who depends on his property business suddenly had debt about US$ 900 millions. The World Bank had predicted his bankruptcy. Some of his friends who experienced the same things thought that it was the end of their life.
In this case, Trump was really on trial. When he was looking for sympathy, his ex-wife Ivana even asked the rest of his wealth as the compensation for their divorce. His closed friends also left him. He had reasons to be despair and give up.
However Trumps didn’t give up. He even saw this as an opportunity to rise up and change the condition. Even though he has lost every thing financially, he still has valuable intangible assets. Trump has experiences, business knowledge and understanding. It’s more valuable that all his wealth. Next is the story of Trump’s winning over the battle and he got his wealth again.
Six months later Trump had made the biggest deal in his business history. He gained US$ 3 billions. In addition, he wrote a book again, entitled “The Art of The Comeback”. In this book, Trump told that bankruptcy indeed made him wiser, stronger and more focus than before. He also told that without bankruptcy he would not know who was his true friend and he would not richer than before. His intangible assets (Trump’s characteristics) indeed saved him from bad destiny.
