I got a chance to sit down with the “First Lady” of Doll Domination. We talked, laughed and discussed her “Exclusive” line of handmade custom jewelry.

Good Day Everyone!

Recently, I have been busy working with several independent companies and corporations. I was introduced to Aya Takano; she is the founder of a popular custom jewelry and accessories line called Doll Domination, I’ve decided to briefly interview her on her intriguing line of work.

What is Doll Domination? Doll Domination is a custom one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry and accessories line dedicated to major artist in the music industry. Doll Domination was started by Aya in the spring of 2005 and has grown tremendously in the past 7 years. Aya has always had a desire to express her inner artiste through fashion and through hard work. With her designer line booming and only getting bigger Aya has worked with well known artist in the past and she also has a few HUGE names interested in her Doll Domination line. I got a chance to sit down and talk with Aya Takano about her aspirations pertaining to her business. Here’s a brief section of the interview below.

DB: “So Aya, Where were you born?   

Aya: “I was born in Japan. I grew up in Niigata which is the country side of Japan. I came to America in 2009 to pursue my dreams in getting my designs out to major artists”.

                                             
DB: “Cool. So, when did you start designing your handmade jewelry and accessories? What made you decide to pursue it?”

Aya: “I started designing when I was 20, just about 7 years ago. What made me pursue my jewelry design was constantly seeing people wearing different styles of accessories and jewelry, I have an artistic view with articulate ideas for designing. This is why I started making my own jewelry”.

DB: “That’s awesome! I see your drive and I am going to support it because your work literally speaks for itself! So Aya, what do you want “Doll-Domination” to be known for?”

Aya: “I want Doll Domination to ultimately be the best custom jewelry and accessories line in the fashion industry. Every piece in my collections is a one-of-a-kind. I never make any items alike or duplicate unique ideas. My goal with Doll Domination is to work exclusively with major artist; I would like all my clientele to feel special knowing that they have a piece of my work which is specifically tailored to them. I do not want to become a wholesaler or mass merchandiser”.

DB: “You mentioned working exclusively with major artist, Name a few that you would like to work with”.

Aya: “I would like to work with Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Lil Wayne in the future”.

DB: “Great! So, briefly tell me a few names of the people that you have already worked with”.

Aya: “I’ve worked with Akon from Konvict Music, Artist Qwes Kross, Johnny Michel and Fred the Godson. These musicians have used my collection for their music video and photo shoots”.
