Parsi brown rice, like all other Indians parsis also use rice in their mid day meal a lot.

Cooking time 25-30 mins. Approx. serves 6-8.

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice                   -       3 cup

Water                              -       6 cups

Onions                             -       6 (sliced)

Shajeera                          -       ½ tsp

Sugar                               -       1 tsp

Ghee or oil                       -       5 tbsp

Salt                                  -       to taste

Crushed together

Cinnamon                 -       4 nos

Cardamom                       -       4 nos              

Mace                               -       2 small pieces  

Pepper corns                   -       ½ tsp

Cloves                             -       4 

Method:

Clean the rice and place over the cooking plate in the cooking pan. Add 4 cups of water and salt. Allow to soak for 15 minutes. Mean while slice the onions. Heat ghee or oil in a kadai. Add sugar, when in turns brown, add shajeera and crushed spices. Add onions. Fry till dark brown. Add to the rice. Press the switch to cooking. When the food is cooked the switch will move to keep warm.
