Some products are too dangerous to be available to the consumers.

Guns, and bombs are dangerous because if they get to the wrong hands it may end up someones life, the same happens with social drugs but the difference is that social drugs kill the person who consumes and guns and explosives kill persons that have nothing to do with it and that’s why they are illegal in so many countries like Uruguay for example. In other countries the production and sale of alcohol is illegal but that does not happen in our country.

The government of every country has to control what’s bad for their people and then control the production and sale of those products or just make them illegal. The government also takes care of the natural environment so they look after nuclear energy and factories that pollute the environment.

In Uruguay like every country the government takes care of the society by making certain goods and services illegal and by looking after those which are legal but maybe are not doing things in the correct way. In the Uruguayan government there are a lot of institutions who take care of the illegal goods and services: those are:

  • L.A.T.U.: certifies everything that will be eaten and if it is of bad quality it wont allow it to go on the legal market. It gives to the products something called “certificado de comercializacion”.
  • M.S.P.: Looks after illegal medicines which are illegal because it may be harmful in an other reason , it may have bad side effects. Also looks after illegal services like abortion and other medical treatments that are not aloud to be done
  • U.C.E.A.: Looks after electric goods and certifies that they are safe enough to go to the legal market and be used by everyone
  • A.N.C.A.P.: Looks after alcohol drinks and certifies that they are able to be used by the population. Also looks after gasoline in the entire country because it may have the wrong components and make a disaster if goes out to the market.
  • I.N.A.U.: Looks after alcohol and that the people under eighteen ears old don’t have access to it, also takes care of everything that goes around in the under age population
  • “Poder judicial” and “Ministerio del interior”: Look after social drugs

These are the main organisations who look after the thing we consume every day and those that we are not allowed to consume. If the product is illegal they will take administrative measures against the persons that run the “business” and in some situations the persons who do it go to prison. If it is a legal business they will only take administrative measures against the business in fault and they’ll charge from 10 “unidades reajustables” to 1000 “undiades reajustables” (UR). There is a register of business that are in fault and if they have too many faults they will be closed down.

In conclusion the Uruguay is a normal third world country that is maybe a bit better in some illegal business but still has a lot of them

Like false Cd’s among other things.

We got the information form the minister of industry and the service to the consumer, the first day that we went, it was closed so we decided to make some interviews to citizens about this subject.

Person that opens taxi doors: He has no idea what we were talking about, he said drugs but it was his only word.

Newspaper seller and her husband: She was aware of the situation of illegal production in the country and thinks it happens because there is an arrangement with the government.

Civilian: He thinks in Uruguay everything is legal and denies illegal activities in the country

Old newspaper seller: He’s aware of the situation and thinks that the illegal things are not stooped by the government because it has become uncontrollable.

Policeman: He’s aware of the situation and thinks that the illegal things are in control of the business. He thinks that a lot of things that are illegal should be legal because they are cheaper like false Cd’s.

Newspaper seller 2: He’s aware of the situation and thinks that the government has control of the illegal activities and they own it most of the times and that’s why they exist. He thinks that marijuana should be legal because it is legal to consume it.

To conclude the population is mostly informed about the situation but have just opinions no facts about what the government does against these.
