Some activities to reduce domestic garbage.

We know that garbage is very serious problem if we connect it to environment condition. We often hear about some activities known as 3Rs (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle). Those activities are very useful for inorganic garbage like tin or plastic, and for example:

  • Tin like biscuit tin, it can be reused to become flowerpot, pencil/tool case that can be placed on a table or rack, garbage bin, etc. Before we do tin reuse, it can be painted first with iron paints to make it more attractive.
  • Thick plastic like liquid soap refill packaging can be recycled to become umbrella, plastic bag for shopping at market, plastic apron, etc by sew the plastic pieces together.
  • We can also reduce our inorganic garbage, which difficult to decompose, by choosing product with paper pack rather than tin or plastic.

Now, what about organic garbage? Organic garbage is type of garbage that can be decomposed by organic bacteria and it will not harm soils. We can use our domestic organic garbage to fertilize our plants, tree, or flower in our garden. The fertilizer from domestic organic garbage such as food leftover, dry leaves, rotten fruit, can be made by chopping them into small pieces and then leave it for one day to be fermented by bacteria. Tadaa… you can “feed” your plants now.

For other organic garbage like paper newspaper, they can be recycled to become colored recycling paper (add some color to the paper pulp, make paper shape and then dry it), to make paper bag, paper box, paper crafts etc.

And if we want to reduce its utilization, we can write on two paper sides instead only write on the paper one side.
