Self Defense or Murder?
Is it wrong to kill someone in self defense? Or is it murder?
There are circumstances when it is considered okay to harm or kill another person in self-defense. If there is a legitimate threat to the public or one’s own safety, it is sometimes alright to take necessary measures to defend oneself and the public.
Maybe this is the law enforcement side of me coming out, but I do feel that sometimes it is necessary to harm or kill a dangerous person in order to protect the community. If that dangerous person is ready to harm or kill other people for illegitimate or unjustified reasons, the there needs to be a force in the community to offer protection. Police and other law enforcement personnel are in this position of community protection.

With all of that being said, I do believe strongly that only the necessary measures should be taken. It is always better to immobilize the threat than to eliminate it completely; basically it is better to hurt the dangerous person than it is to kill them. Justice can be served more adequately and a life is spared. Unfortunately, this is not always possible and sometimes police must eliminate a dangerous threat in order to protect themselves and the public.

It’s the same but different in meaning or degree in which it’s being done. You valued your life, so you defend yourself to be killed. But still it’s a murder because you took his/her life.
You’re right. Murder is murder, but sometimes the law makes exceptions when the crime was committed in self defense.
