Simple Tips on What Proposal Writing Should be All About
Simple tips on what proposal writing should be all about.
Sometimes ago, I attended a seminar in which I learnt complex proposal writing skills. In that same seminar, there was a contest to see who could think up the best definition of a proposal. I lost that contest easily. Know why? My definition “an exercise in imaginative thinking” is far too poetic a definition for a term that thrives on simplicity.
So here you will learn what you don’t know is so simple
If you are a nice guy or gal or woman or man or whatever title suits you, I ask you, how hard do you find talking to the opposite sex, especially when your target is the most handsome dude or beautiful blonde around? If you are the type that finds such daring easy, I wonder why you are not teaching me this. But if you find it difficult speaking to the opposite sex, do not lose hope. You will start the learning process by talking to that lady you have always admired.
To start right away, answer this question: can you find an excuse for a chat with that lady?
If you can’t do this, I will advice you to forget proposal writing. But you may refuse to obey my advice to your own benefit!
Is she beautiful? She sure is.
Now find out if she is in any way obsessed with that beauty. If she is, sit down and think of a unique way you can enhance that beauty. Now go to her, tell her you’ve got an ingenious beauty tip for her if she would only spare you thirty minutes of her time (during which you must try to say what is on your mind in the most presentable of ways. Don’t force her, let her think about it. And if you can, tell her a little of what you have to offer to sustain the tension. Then wait.
In the above, I have outlined a simple way to write a great proposal. Now let me go a little technical with what you have read so far
- Your idea of a proposal may be as simple as wanting to deal with a company
- Learn anything you can about the company and I bet you will find an area in which that company will entertain an innovative idea
- Now sit with similar innovative ideas. I mean sit with books about people who have earned cash from their ideas. One thing you will find is that they haven’t got a special brain. Almost everyday we get ideas from whatever we do. We just don’t consider making money from them!
- Sit down and think the glimpsed ideas towards your targeted company’s need.
- STOP! Don’t be a copy cat o!
- If you find this type of mind exercise interesting, you may actually be on your way to cool cash.
- In the next two weeks continue this exercise and you will find you will soon be able to do it without using anybody’s idea, but your own
- Now sit down, its time to write
- If you have got this idea, which is the most important step, you may need a good writer to help you put it down in the most beautiful of ways
In the seminar I attended, I wasn’t taught it so simple; imagination and experience are the best teachers.
Example of an idea- a bus stop in my area is usually overcrowded at a particular time of day. I am about to write a proposal to xxx company on how I can work for them so they can make money from that simple scenario.
See- You have to make it look as if they derive all the benefit. At least, say it that way!
