What Features Should You Look for in Your Airline Mileage Card?
List of important features when applying for an Airline Mileage card.
The market is flooded with credit cards and shopper cards and mileage cards. They all promise a lot but when you actually think of redeeming those miles then you realize that you have to virtually live in a plane to actually collect enough miles to get a free ticket. So here is a low down on what you should look for when opting for airline mileage credit cards.
When you are comparing mileage credit cards, keep two things in mind-what kind of travel do you frequently do? Do you travel domestically that is within the state or country or you are constantly jet setting off to far off destinations, i.e. you travel internationally. The card should cover you accordingly. Secondly see which card redeems your miles without a number of conditions, that is, it has minimal strings attached.
Mileage cards are both airline sponsored credit cards and bank sponsored credit cards. Let’s consider the airline sponsored credit cards, they are usually airline specific cards. If the airline has a booking office or a hub in your city you have all the likelihood to fly that airline and collect the necessary mileage. So in essence if you are constantly flying one airline this kind of cards are great, but what if you travel to international destinations and can’t travel the same airline every time. Some of the destinations may not even be covered by your airline.
Bank credit cards that offer mileage cards are always a better option as they are more flexible they do not limit you to one airline rather you can use the mileage points earned on any airline or all the airlines that have a tie-up with the bank. If you travel internationally or there is no major airline hub in your city then bank mileage cards are the best option for you. Some of these cards require less mileage points than an airline cards, however they have some conditions attached.
Some major airline cards are listed below:
British Airways Visa Signature card: This card offers some great benefits for international travelers but the flip side is only US citizens are eligible for this card. The good thing is that it has a large list of international and domestic destinations so if you frequently fly between the destinations British Airways covers then this card should be your best bet. The card is issued by chase credit cards.
