You are Hired So Now What?
Many times we try so hard sending out applications and attending interview so that we can get hired.
In this competitive job market, most of us are lucky to have a job. For many of the job openings, there could potentially be many candidates vying for the position. Of the ones who apply, only a few would be chosen for interview. Of those interviewed, only selected few would be shortlisted and at the end only one would be chosen.
So what if you are the one chosen and you landed the job. Is that the end of the quest?
How many of us ask the question, why did we get the job and what is the company paying us for. As we stay in the job, we have to constantly ask ourselves why does the company keep paying us? Do we add value to the company.
We need to remember that the company does not pay us for nothing. We are there to perform a service. As long as our service is required, we will stay employed. Economy and the environment of the company changes. The services required by the company also continue to change.
If we fail to deliver the services required by our company, they no longer have a need to employ us. In order to stay secure in our job, we have to evolve and change according to the job requirements. Also, do what is within our control, don’t worry about anything that is out of our control.
In some cases, no matter what we do, we cannot keep our job but for the rest of the time, we have to constantly deliver needed value to keep our job.
