How to be a Great Buyer on Ebay
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of articles & other written materials about how to SELL on eBay. But, I’ve found almost nothing that explains what makes a good BUYER…
Here’s the scenario:
You want a gift for your mom. Lets say it’s her 50th Birthday, and you want something special. You go to eBay, of course! Your mom collects Pink Depression Glass and you are looking for something you know she does not have yet. You go and type pink depression glass into the “find” box at the top of the page, and you get back 1,127 results under”auctions”!
WOW! That’s a lot, and your in kind of a hurry, so you scroll madly through each auction, and all of a sudden you see it! There is your gift, but there is only minutes until the bidding ends, so you bid!
Now, this seems to be going pretty good, huh? NOT! This method is a return waiting to happen. Why? What makes the difference, I bought an item and now I’ll receive it, right? What steps should you take to avoid disaster?
Before I answer those questions, let me ask YOU one: If you went to a store and had to order a present, would you just make the order, or would you have to find out how much shipping was, how long it would be before it was shipped…See where this is leading?
The #1 BIGGEST complaint I have, & hear from on-line selling communities is people do not read ! And it’s true…you don’t. Now, don’t get mad, because it IS the truth. IF you had read the auction through, you would of seen that your present would be shipped in 10 days; or that the seller lives in china; or you have to pay extra for shipping and handling…this list could go on and on.
Here are some simple, tried and true methods in getting what you want from eBay, the FIRST time you shop!
- Before you even LOOK at whats for sale, sign up (register)! The reason being, if you look first and find something you want, you’ll still have to register, and being in a hurry you WILL make mistakes.( I know, been there, done that!)
- At this point it will be to your advantage to join Pay Pal. It’s free and it makes it very easy to buy from eBay…you know can use your Credit Card through Pay Pal.
