Architecture & the Architect

Architecture is a job where you get to design buildings and structures. An architect’s job is to design buildings that look good but are also stable. Many basic geometric shapes are used to build sturdy buildings. Ancient Egyptian pyramids, sleek sports cars, and towering skyscrapers were all made with the use of geometry!

An architect will first talk to the client that hired them. The employer will have requirements for the new building the architect must follow. Thanks to new computer technology, architects can now create and design a 3-D model of their new building. With this 3D design, an architect can create a real-looking model of the building. The 3D model doesn’t cover everything. The architect still has to draw out the floor plan that includes measurements for the lengths of the walls and other things.

Measurements are very important. If you get a measurement wrong, the building will end up not being symmetrical. If a building is not symmetrical, then it won’t look appealing and won’t be stable. An architect has to calculate areas, perimeters, heights, widths, volumes, and other aspects of geometry.

After the architect has planned out the building, engineers determine how they should make the base of the building so it supports the rest of the building. It is the engineers’ job to make a stable base so the building will stand for a long time. It is the engineer’s job to make the building earthquake proof. They do this by finding the weakest parts of the building and reinforcing them.

In conclusion, an architect uses geometry every time they plan a new building. They must build the building according to their employer’s requirements. This includes measurements for the building, the shape of the building and structure of the building. It is the engineers’ job to make the building stable and the construction workers’ job to build the building. The architect designs the building, but couldn’t get it finished without the engineers and construction workers.
