What could be the Cause of being stuck in a Rut?
You Do Not Have a Long-term Goal
To break off the downward spiral of inner turmoil, boring working routine, disorganized and directionless life, you need to have a personal aim and direction. In this matter, if you yourself have decided to achieve your goal in your career or you want to expand your significant role at work, you need to let your superior know. It is also advisable for you to seek his or her advice.
You Have Lost Interest for Your Career
You think you are good at one particular area and do not want to expand your capabilities on other areas for fear of being a failure. This is unhealthy, and considering that you are just good at one thing but do not want to make any attempts to explore into new fields. By not pursuing other interests and fields, your self-esteem as well as self-satisfaction will not be expanded and also there will not be an enduring and positive effect on everything else you do at your workplace.
You Might be a Control Freak
At work, you cannot let go a lot of things because part of your feeling is out of control and you seem to try to do too much on little things. To get out of being stuck in a rut, you need to learn to delegate where possible and do not spend lots of time on the little small things.

You made some good points here. I love my personal life but find I no longer enjoy being a nurse. My problem is at my age I don’t want to train for another career, I only want to work for a few more years and then retire.
Lots of things to think about here.
This is just what I need. Thanks.

Great tips Chan!
It’s important to be away from work at times and to have a sort of destressing activities like exercising and socializing.
These are important thing to think about. Its really unhealthy for the employee and more to this, his/her job is at stake. I usually resolve this by taking a break, talking to my employers with the subject that bothers me. If we can’t agree, I’ll just say bye, bye in a professional way ofcourse. No point to continue working for them if you are not happy with them.
This is a great list. I have felt this way about a previous job which is why I am no longer there. Thanks for opening our eyes to this.
Thanks for sharing. You have composed another great piece.
