…marketing your talents is a fun, learning experience!

Being an artist, you tend to befriend other like minded artist friends who are actively and often independently pursuing their dreams as well. Given this fact, the topic of self promoting, marketing and other creative ways to further one’s dreams is often brought up.

As a writer I’ve found that the internet offers countless free marketing resources. Everything from starting your own blog to publishing articles with links to your past articles to utilizing the plentiful social networking sites like Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, etc the world wide web opens limitless doors to people and opportunities just made for you. You simply need to log on with consistent determination each day and trust that your efforts do pay off; know that every link you add, every connection you make brings you that much closer to the door that contains all your dreams come true.

While these are amazing ways to expand any artists’ business, there are still more great ideas to delve into that can further fuel your earning and growing name recognition. As an artist your mind is already rich with creative energy, put that great potential to good use. Take a look around you at other artists in your genre as well as other genres.

While you can learn much from those in your same genre, looking to artists pursuing a different creative path can open your eyes to marketing ideas that you might never have considered before. For example, its common to see musicians who have their own t-shirt lines or bumper stickers, but not as common to see that same marketing tool used by writers, photographers and models, but why is that? I have a feeling avid followers of a favorite author would love to put a bumper sticker on their car with that person’s name on it; or don a t-shirt with the signature of a famous photographer or model, these are ideas that can seriously and effectively help grow your notoriety and popularity.

And, then there’s YouTube. While many musicians are already making the most of this great resource you don’t often find photographers or writers utilizing this tool. Why not? Why not add some poems on a slide show with soft music playing and end the short clip with your website address. Even better, why not tape record yourself reading a poem or short entry from your newly published novel or online article.

Additionally, for musicians, why not start a blog to further connect with your fans?  Remember, contests and things that include people in on your work is a wonderful way to spread the word about your name.  Why not hold a contest for fans to come up with the title of your next album?  Or something amazing like that?  Writers, artists, and photographers same to you, contests stir up excitement and even more love for the creative love you offer them!

The point is, when it comes to marketing and driving your dreams forward always think outside of the box. unique innovative ideas are what drive, shape and further inspire other people to keep falling in love with your work over and over again for always as well as encourage them to follow their own dreams. So be bold and always stride confidently toward the vision of your dreams. Successful people open their own doors, pave the pathway so the road is smoother for others to travel on and create more opportunities, possibilities and hopes for people to benefit from.

So grab a piece of paper right now and start brainstorming and creating your new unique marketing plan. And always remember no matter how many people stand behind you and support your dreams, no one will ever push them forward as passionately or with as much love as you will.
