Four Essential Steps to an Interview-gaining Cover Letter
A successful job interview first depends on the resume and interview cover letter you are sending in prior to applying a job. This letter is a yardstick to evaluate whether you will be shortlisted as a future job candidate. There are four important things you need to know in order to make your interview-gaining cover letter sound attractive and interesting.
Get Your Facts Right
You should make sure that you have the correct title and name of the person you are addressing this to. In addition, you should state clearly the position you desire to apply for. Also, provide accurate and truthful facts regarding yourself, as it is important to grab attention to your honesty and reliability.
Do Not End Your Letter Passively
Try to end your letter with a powerful statement rather than ending up your letter with “thanks for your patience”. This sounds ambivalent to the interviewer. Also, do not waste your time writing passive sentences in your cover letter. Most interviewers do not expect the job candidate to write the bulk of their cover letter in a passive voice. Express your enthusiasm with a commitment role as well as your realistic expectation for the interview.
Highlight Your Previous Experience (s)
In your letter, you should highlight any previous experience (s) that will be an extra added value to the position specifically. If you write with “I have good people’s skills” in your letter, you actually add nothing value to your letter. Well, no one will say “I have bad people’s skills” which sounds to be ridiculous. To grab the attention of your potential employer, you should specify your points clearly and briefly. For instance, you can say, “I manage a team of ten salesmen which indicates that I can handle staff properly. I am also able to motivate them to meet the company’s targets.”
Do Not Repeat Your CV
Do not simply summarize or repeat your CV. You should actually customize the cover letter to the specific job you are applying for and be sure to keep it in a single page. More importantly, remember to mention why you are interested in the role and company you are applying for.
