How to Have a Great Job Interview
Tips to have a great interview and get the job.
I’m a full time student, but the minute summer hits I have to find a job. When I have to come in for a job interview people ask me if I’m nervous and I can confidently say no. Also, I’ve never left a job interview without being complimented for my interviewing skills. Friends have asked me how I do it, so this summer I paid attention to how I respond during an interview. Here some tips I have:
- Well the first one I have already mentioned. Confidence. Show them that you believe you are the best on the job. Show it with your body language by always looking them in the eyes, stand up straight, and sit properly.
- Make sure the day before the interview you already know what you want to wear. Always wear something nice. Business attire if you have it. Don’t wait till the day of to pick it out. Especially if you are like me and only wear the clothes once a year, and then finds out the clothes don’t fit the next year.
- The next one is let them know that you want this job. Employers want people who want to work there. So be enthusiastic. They are doing YOU a favor. There are plenty of other people looking for a job especially in this economy.
- Do some research on the place you have an interview with. Find out what types of jobs they have and how the place runs. You can do this simply by just looking around on their website. The most important thing when it comes to this is finding out why you want to work there. I’ve never been to an interview where they didn’t ask that so go ahead and figure it out it advance.
- Another thing to think about ahead of time is why you are a good worker. They will ask you that and the quicker you respond the more honest it sounds.
- The employer may talk to you for a while and make sure you pay attention. If you sit there and look around they will probably think you aren’t paying attention. Keep the eye contact going and nod your head every now and then to show them that you understand and aren’t spacing.
- Make sure you bring with your drivers license and your social security card.
- The final step is start and finish the interview with a handshake. They will remember you.
These are all the things I do and they have always worked for me. I wish you the best of luck if you are in the same boat as me and looking for that summer job.
