How to Join a Labor Union and Make More Money
Organizing cards, apprenticeship programs, Congress and the law, Walmart, Starbucks and the National Labors Relations Board, (NLRB) Great benefits and great pay and more.
Anyone can join a union, it’s rather simple. If you are not working and need a job, join a trades union. First get a list of unions in your area by searching the yellow pages. Make a copy of the list, call or go to the union hall and inquire about apprenticeship programs, most trade unions have them. Start with the labors union, it does not require much skills and they offer all the training for free. The trade unions are great too because they will teach you a trade while you get paid. Electricians, carpenters, painters, etc. Go there and inquire! Women are encouraged as well, by law they must hire so many women. The pay and benefits are great!
If you have a job already but are not part of a union and want to be, start a union campaign. A campaign is influencing other workers to sign cards from a union hall that forces the company by law to allow a free election to vote; if the workers want a union shop or not. First you must get more than 50% of the employees to sign this card with the union then you will have an election, at that point the majority wins, but be careful the company usually tries to brainwash the workers into not voting for a union shop. By threatening to fire and other tactics, this is against the law, report it to the Nation Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Currently congress is looking into a law that allows a union shop simple by signing the organizing cards, without a general election. This prevents companies from interfering with election results by scarring and threat tactics prior to voting. Unfortunately, companies like Wall mart and Starbucks are lobbying large amounts of campaign money to congress to prevent this law from being past. We must rise above this and let your voice be heard by writing your congressmen in your district, they take these letters very serious in-order to get re-elected. So act now!
