It is important to bear in mind that looking for a job is first of all a matter of right and positive attitude. You probably won’t find exactly what you want. Be realistic. The employment scene has become very competitive. Education and training requirements are rising for a growing number of jobs. Even a college diploma is not a guarantee for a job.

You are most likely to find a job if you believe in your capability and will not be ashamed to start from low positions. Remember, there is “dignity in earning your bread honestly.”

Be proud of what you trained in, what you know, and what you can do. This will help you “sell” yourself with confidence. Don’t overdo it, however. A decent job is not only those held by the “white-collar workers.” We don’t go by that standard anymore. You may be full of grease and dirt after a day’s work, and yet be respected for the kind of job that you have.

It is good to have high hopes and ambitions. But you can’t get to the top at once. So, be prepared to start from the bottom.

For example, you are a graduate of an Automotive Mechanic course. You will probably want to be employed in prestigious companies like Toyota, Mitsubishi, GM, or Nissan.

Sometimes, it is not very easy to “break” into big companies without experience and good qualifications. What should you do? You can start as an assistant in small shops in your neighborhood. Gain more practical experience! Or you can even start as a gasoline attendant, where you can perform mechanical tasks.

Success has several ladders. From the bottom, you can reach the top.
