In this tough job market, one has to figure out a way to set themselves up to increase opportunities to get your foot in the door.

There are a lot of people out there looking for jobs and not many jobs to be had.  In order to be successful in procuring a position, you may have to change how you are positioning yourself.  Here are 5 ways to increase your  opportunities:

1.  Use specific resumes for the type of position, for example if it is a sales position, utilyze job descriptions or qualities that emphasize your sales abilities.

2.  Utilize groups, friends, and family that you meet with to develop positions that are available before they hit the papers, Internet, job links.  Join groups or volunteer in areas that you would like to procure a job.

3.  Place your resume on as many on line sites as you think will be beneficial.

4.  Research the people, background and information on the companies you are interviewing with, seek out information  that helps you communicate how your task will enhance the position in which you are applying.

5.  Put on your best face, outfit and demeanor the day of the interview.  Make sure you are early, prepared and ready to answer questions.   Have any letter of recommendations, reference information or past employment information at your disposal in case they have questions.
