Searching Job Opportunities
According to the Google Trends Lab, “job”, “job search”, “career”, and “job vacancy” are still hot trends in internet. This article provide information of how to search job opportunities.
Khalil Gibran says, “Work is love made visible.” We work because we love our job, beloved ones, and ourselves to develop our quality of life. According to the Google Trends Lab, ‘job’, ‘job search’, ‘career’, and ‘job vacancy’ are still hot trends in internet. Many people are still interested in that topic. Many organizations post job vacancies while many people are looking for the job.
The world’s interest in these topics motivate me to share some tips to search the job opportunity.
1. Prepare softcopy of your CV
Not only should you write CV or Resume by using word processor but you should scan your photograph and certificate. You must archive them with zip of not more than a half megabytes. You can send softcopy of your CV if the company open opportunity to receive application letter via email. You can print your CV if the company needs hardcopy of it.
2. Read Newspapers and Magazines

Not all newspapers or magazines provide many job vacancy advertisements. If you want to look for job opportunity, buy the printed media which announce many job vacancies. However, in one edition, there is possibility that you do not find the suitable opportunity. If you find the opportunity, read whether or not the company accepts application via email. Send softcopy of your CV if the company provides email address to receive application letter.
3. Join the Job Fair/ Career Day events
In my country, Job Fair/ Career Day event is usually held by University, Manpower Office, or recruitment company. In Job Fair, you can ask directly to the PICs of company’s booth about information related to that company and recruitment process in that company. Do not forget to print your CV and photocopy your certificate because some companies in job fair may accept the hardcopy of your CV. If your age are younger than 27 years, it is OK to attend Career Day event at Campus/ University. Usually, the objective of Career Day in University is to provide opporutnity to its fresh graduates and commonly the job opportunities are for those who are younger than 27 or 30 years old. If you have more than 5 years experience, it is better not to visit Career Day in University.
4. Search job opportunity by internet searching
Sending softcopy of your CV via email is paperless. Usually, the job opportunity, which is posted in website, only needs online or softcopy application. You can search job opportunity by using Google’s Search Engine or register in job sites, such as: JobsDB.com, e-jobz.com, jobstreet.com. Job sites can save job seekers’ their database and the companies will be able to search the candiates. Some job sites, such as jobstreet.com, have system which gives you notification if any job opportunity match with your background. Many campuses provide Career Center websites, which announce job opportunity. However, the job opportunities, which are posted in Career Center website, are usually the same opporutnities as the companies announce in University’s Career Day. I see some people also post job vacancy information in social network such as Facebook so you can use this facility too. Besides, if you know the url address of company’s website, visit it and see whether any announced job opportunity.
When we are jobless or do not fell at home in present company, searching job opportunity is very frustrating. However, you should be optimist and have self-confident. If you find your dream job opportunity, submit your CV and you must not be needy to be accepted in your dream company as if it was the only path for success. Your neediness toward only one opportunity may decrease your power to get other opportunities. Good luck!
