Several millions of Americans are facing an employment disaster, is it as severe as we think?

We all know that these days finding a job is the hardest thing to do in this struggling economy, but there are some alternatives available when it comes to finding jobs. A major impact that has hit most of us here in the United States is the fact that we are getting less pay for more work. Places in retail, sales, and customer service are still available, but for most of us this is a backwards step in our careers. Most of us will probably have to put our egos aside and take a job we feel is below us, but at this time any money is good money.

Temps/Part-Time/Contract

Sometimes in a struggling economy the best thing to do is make you skills available in a limited capacity. This approach is for those who have been laid off and have some connections and credibility in their respective markets. Part-time work is available in many places but most of us don’t want to go back to what we did when we were eighteen and in college. If you’re facing these options as your only options then take them, they are always better than no work at all.

With the digital age more and more companies require employment seekers to apply online. This method as efficient and fast as it seems has its positives and negatives. A few good things about applying online is that companies get a way to increase the number of applicants they can receive, and weed out the people they feel are not qualified based on resumes. With these advantages companies can interview who they feel is going to be the best fit for the company based on a piece of paper. The biggest flaw with this system is that those who are more qualified than stated on the resume get hacked. Many people have attractive things to put on a resume, but sometimes traits that they receive through experience can only be shown with face to face conversation.

The opportunities to work at home are ample, and if the business is right for you then you will succeed. Where this situation becomes a problem is many people fall into scams with work at home schemes, and make money online fast ideas, which we all should be aware are NOT as good as they seem. A lot of MLM programs and other pyramid ideas can work, but the majority of the people who get involved usually don’t get a chance to see those benefits.

While I was browsing on various websites doing what many might be doing right now, looking for work, I came across an article which stated the number of layoffs worldwide. The numbers are staggering and this was the reality check that I needed to give myself the motivation to get back to school.
