Excellent. Am just about to do logo design with my students. This is a perfect site for them to look at!! Thanks Nelson!
where’s McDonalds?
How about CNN logo? News watched around the world and covered both Iraq wars while the world watched in horror. Although, your choices are good, too.
“…UPS (United Postal Service)”
You mean “United PARCEL Service”. You should fix this, please.
I didn’t know UPS!
I don’t know if its true that the PlayStation is the most popular with serious gamers – the original PlayStation bought about the idea of “casual gamers” people who weren’t overly into games but would still play Tomb Raider.
Other than that though – a good list.
ugh…i was scared that i was going to see “the evil golden arches”
i’m kind of glad that’s not one…i really liked this.
Excellent.
Very true! You can make anything a signature family name!
Blessings.
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.
UPS=United Parcel Service.
Parcel and Postal is different?
I don’t know UPS, not famous in my country.
I thought for sure McDonalds would make the list.
nice stuff, coke i think is the most recognizable logo
“…UPS=United Parcel Service.
Parcel and Postal is different?
I don’t know UPS, not famous in my country.”
Yes. It being the proper name of the organization, it should be called as it is. It would as wrong to call “UPS” as “United Parcel SOCIETY”.
“USPS” = “United States POSTAL Service”, a U.S. Government Agency.
“UPS” = “United PARCEL Service”, a private shipping company.
Easy to get these two confused.

Another well presented article Nelson
PS is the fave of my son. nice article!
Very interesting article.
Probably the most widely known object in the world today is the AK-47 Kalashnikov, unfortunately. But it has no logo.
Good article though I have to agree with some of the others here, the playstation logo would not be as worldy popular as Sony itself, and Surely McDonalds would beat even that, Even Iraq and Kuwait have McD’s (or KFC)Which is bigger than most would think, Though I never saw the Tech brands overseas…
Very interesting. They are indeed very popular all over the world.
Never heard of Starbucks, UPS and FedEx, so they aren’t really famous all over the world.
I would have definitely included the Macdonalds M, the Mozilla and the Internet Explorer logo’s as well.

All instantly recognized logos!
When you’re talking WORLD famous logo’s how can you go past the Red Cross. I know they also have a Red Crescent but it’s still gotta beat the majority of these tech based logos which are dependant on access to computers.
very nice and i think that underarmor is also a good one and north face…….but there are some good choices such as starbucks….forget McD’s….wat about red cross the like best one…..
wowa i love starbucks and all the others
I love very logo esspecially nike yeah dude and dudette
The Stickman, So you meant UPS=United Parcel Service.
well gud ut its parcel n mac donals should have made the list
xxxxxxxxx
Coca cola is supposedly recognized by 94% of the world, making it far and away the most recognized brand in the world. I cant imagine Pepsi is too terribly far behind. After that I would think that companies with durable products would be most universal such as Nike and Toyota.
By way of anecdotal evidence: I live in Papua New Guinea, one of the more remote corners of the world and while you can find Coke bottle and Nike apparel in even remote villages, there are no McDonald’s or Starbucks anywhere in the country last I knew. Also, less than a quarter of the global population has ever used the internet (fewer here) so Google, Ebay, and even Microsoft are probably far far behind.
As a quasi-commercial symbol I would suggest the Olympic rings. After all 4.7 bil. or 70% of the world watch some portion of the Beijing games.
coca-cola is the most famous of all logos its known in every nation
You forgot one huge one: Harley Davidson
You can’t be serious – McD’s is known all over the world!
