An Atlantic based recruiter, Eric Jaquith who has done contract work for Google says that, ” the idea of recruiting is to go after successful companies, therefore a company wanting the type of success Google has will hire from Google. Googlers should have signs on their heads.”
In the beginning, most people were intelligent, inquisitive and wanted to solve challenging problems. Not for a salary, which is a good thing as Google has earned a reputation for being pretty cheap. Jaquith states that exodus was obviously going to happen regardless of the pay because most Googlers lose interest under four or five year plans and look for new challenges.
The gain from stock options certainly did not hurt the Googlepreneurs and probably gave them the financial support to go on their own.
