How often have you heard, "No time!"? You might not realize it but you yourself might be one of those who complain about the lack of time. Master the skills of Time Management…………..

It has been 4 days since I wrote anything for Triond. Why? I would’ve said “No time!” by default, as if it was pre-programmed in my head but now, I have realized that you can’t really blame ‘time’ all the time. Time is something that you have to find. Last 48 hours, I had only 5 hours of sleep thanks to a pile load of tasks. Never in my life was I awake for that many hours without sleep and this event opened my eyes. (Well technically my eyes were drooping.) A realization struck me. The most important ingredient to brewing a successful life is, “Time Management.”

As the gentleman in the video says,”Time is not money. Unlike money, time is non-renewable”, so spend it wisely.

Time Management is an art and mastery of this art will help you get the most out of life. There are various skills, techniques and methods to deal with managing time but I won’t be discussing them in detail here; just a few points that I have learnt.

  • NEVER PROCRASTINATE

How many of you never procrastinate? If your hands are up, stop lying. This is one of the most common obstacles that one needs to overcome to lead a pressure-free life. You have two choices when you have a task at hand. Enjoy now, suffer later or work now, relax later. Most of choose the latter and that’s exactly why I had just 5 hours of sleep in the last two days. When you delay a task for the sake of having fun now, what you are doing is you are simply killing time. You are in noway utilising your time. Work piles up and then when the deadline nears, beads of sweat will line up on your forehead. Working under pressure is obviously, not the best way to complete the task efficiently.

  • SET GOALS AND SCHEDULE YOUR TASK

I might be a hypocrite but I do know that setting up a reasonable time table and sticking to it can be the perfect way to manage time. But it isn’t easy. It might be easy to make a time table but to make a time table that you can easily follow is quite a difficult task. Having a determined mind is the requirement to do this. And yeah, never forget to have fun! Take frequent breaks and relax!

  • SET PRIORITIES

You have to set priorities to all your tasks so that you can do them in order of difficulty and importance. This doesn’t mean that you spend all your time making and managing your list. If you do that, you will never have enough time to actually complete the tasks.

How often do you feel that time moves fast when you are having fun and slowly when you are ‘bored’? I login to Facebook, and find my homepage flooded with statuses complaining about boredom. Here I am hungry for more time and there people don’t know what to do with time. If you ever feel bored, find something to keep you occupied, be it a fun activity or a serious activity.
