Being able to identify a company’s strategy and comparing the differences between companies will help you improve your strategy and evolve your plan in order to reach its maximum potential for a successful company.

A company’s strategy is management’s action plan that clearly states what direction a company will take and what steps it will take to achieve its internal and external goals. One of the most important goals in developing a strategy is making sure the goals are easily translated into actions for your business.

1. Understanding Strategy. A company’s strategy is a term used to describe management’s plan to accomplish their goals with maximum efficiency. It consists of competitive moves and approaches in accomplishing: growing their business, attracting customers and building business, successfully conducting operations, production, improving financially and enhance performance. Companies that have a good go to market strategy or strategic marketing plan are in a much better position to execute, according to a company’s overall vision and to leadership’s overall vision, than companies that don’t (Rowe, 2006).
2. The Importance of Choosing a Strategy. Strategy is all about setting the foundation for understanding how to be successful in a market and how to win (Rowe, 2006). For a company to be successful they need to develop a successful strategy considering factors such as: the resources available, opportunities in the market, the future of your company and being able to make competitive moves to distinguish a company from its rivals. Once it is clear what to look for the strategy that you decide will be very important to the future of your business because it will influence many of your future decisions and shape the life of your business.

I think this Top Ten project research into strategy is true advice and relevant to all companies because it describes the basic tools needed to win in the competitive world today. An organization must always have a good strategy to compete with business in the marketplace. They need excellent ideas to outwit the competition in order to stay ahead of them and maintain a constant strategy in case of a new development exercised by the competitors.
Something that I learned that I did not know already is what a reactive strategy is. I knew that companies have to modify their strategies a lot because of the rapidly changing market; I learned that from my project on how to craft a strategy, but I did not know that a strategy that has been modified because of an incident in the market is called a reactive strategy.
