Around the Globe: Odd Vending Machines Make a Killing
Odd machines around the world offer panties, toilette paper, lobsters and more.
Here in America we usually get drinks, snacks, and sandwiches from our vending machines for a small fee. However, if you visit some other countries you may be in for a surprise.
In London, for only $8 you can get shoes and a bag from a vending machine. It is rumored that this craze is coming to states soon. In Japan you can get eggs, umbrellas, toilette paper, porn, and gasp- used school girl’s panties! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I doubt this craze will come to the states. The panties run from 1000 to 3000 yen which is equal to about $31 USD. Wow!
France offers machines that when you insert your money, will wash your dog.
Here’s one from the states, California has vending machines that dispense prescription Marijuana.
Another Japanese entity that is offered through a vending machine is Beetles! Yes, let me say it one more time, Beetles! Beetles are a popular pet for Japanese children and now can be dispensed for just a small sum.
Here’s one that I wish would come to the states, a vending machine that dispenses cigarettes. And of course, it would have to be modified to discourage underage smokers. But as for us, who are of age and smoke-what a blessing it would be to run out of cigarettes and have a vendor near by opposed to having to drive all the way to the convenience store.
One American company, Gumball Poetry, publishes their material through vending machines.”We’ve taken one of the greatest ideas of all time (message in a bottle, sent to sea) and made it better.”
So here in restaurants, and arcades you can play with one of those claw machines where you can pull out a stuffed animal for your girlfriend for just a few bucks. Japan offers this same concept with a twist-instead of teddy bears you can pull out a live lobster!
And finally, my last odd item to write about concerning vending machines is the Passive Aggressive Anger Release machine. Insert your money, dial the number, and watch a piece of fine china move forward, drop, and break. Apparently the effect releases anger.
