Determined to Make Art
A pursuasive article on marketing, art, and writing for money.
Are you determined? It’s a small part of everybody’s nature to strive for something, and there’s something a gnawin’ at my heart strings. An urge to make somethin’ of myself. The problem is, I aint much of a marketer. From what I’ve found, the only way to succeed creatively, is to market yourself. Which would be awesome, if all the great marketing ideas weren’t already taken.
I have people tell me all the time that I do more work trying not to work, than the work its self. Which may be true, but my way is much more fun. It’s almost become a goal not to work. Something to strive for. I suppose that’s what an entreprenuer is right? Someone who works not to work. So this article is for all you entreprenuers out there.
Don’t be affraid to be creative! Creatively throw your ideas into the world. Gurilla marketing, as it’s so commonly called is the most effective way to get people’s attention in a world of folks with attention spans of less than three seconds. People are like goldfish when it comes to new products. They like things that are shiny, big, interesting. But on the same note, never underestimate the intelligence of an individual person. Especially an individual who wants something.
That’s why the initial grab is what’s important. Because, essentially, it’s marketing to a group, not so much an individual. What keeps the buyer interested in the long run however, is the product it’s self. So quality over quantity. Quality through in through. If one is meticulus with their marketing style, that means they probably have a good product as well.
My product will always be my writings, and my art. Things like this will never change. In that manner, I suppose I’m another disney’s Mr. Toad. I have a need for speed. Ok, maybe not speed, but the next, new exciting thing that can make me money, or make me poor. Like a rush of air to my lungs. I need my art, as much as my art needs me, and I for one know, that the cream rises to the top!
