How to Become a Reseller
Guidelines to becoming a reseller, online or offline.
What is a reseller? A reseller is a business professional, online or offline, who buys products at a lower cost and resells them at a higher cost.
For example, many people who work in association with Ebay are reseller. Some business people for example buy products at yard and garage sales for a lower price and resells these products on Ebay for a higher price. This is a reseller.
You can also buy products at Ebay for a lower price and then resell them at your yard and garage sales for a higher price.
You can buy products at discount and/or wholesale prices and resell them.
Resellers can also be affiliates of companies that sell products that you receive a commission on. These are also resellers. A commission is a form of “discount.”
If you’re interested in being a reseller working online, then you make a list of companies that sell products and a list of companies that buy those products. If the companies sell products for a cheaper price than the buyers, then you can become an online reseller.
Let’s say you buy CDs, DVDs, and used textbooks at a discount from a certain online company, then can resell them at a higher price at another online company, then you are an online reseller.
Let’s say you buy used CDsat Amazon.com for $2, find another online company available to buy used CDs for $4, then you make $2 per used CD.
You can also make a list of consignment, used textbooks and used products in your region. You can buy these products and resell on Ebay and/or Amazon.com. And/or you can buy products from these and/or other online stores that also sell used, discount, and/or wholesale products. Again, you are a reseller.
Retail stores are also reseller, in that they buy products at a cheaper price than they sell the products for. All sales is generally reselling, whether the products are new, used, or reconditioned.
Even wholesalers and discount sales people must buy their products at lower costs in order to make money in resales. So if you find the cost per pencil is .50 it’s like the wholesale got the pencils for .25 each. This is resales.
To find a product to resale, find a product that you think that your customers want to buy. What products is that? You can ask your customers What products are you seeking and at what price do you want to buy these products?
This is a sales question that all sales people can ask their customers. Retail stores can also ask this questions.
If you have problems selling products, then ask your customers, what types of products are they seeking?
For example, when fast food stores find out that there are customers for organic, vegan, or healthier styles of foods–what do these food resellers do? They start offering more healthier styles of fast foods, including salads. They change the type of oils they put in their fast foods. They have discount prices on fast foods.
Customers are not always right, nevertheless, when customers are correct, are right, then sales professionals should listen to them.

Hi,
How about how to ask a certain website company about possibly becoming a reseller of their items? Any suggestions on how to approach this?
Thanks,
Robert
Okay this sounds wonderful and peachy HOWEVER I am in a interesting situation by doing this.
I bought 25 bedding sets from ebay and listed them on Amazon.
the company who sold them to me for half price on ebay is also the company who owns the bedding line.
they processed my orders and shipped. Before I even received 1 item I ordered the company called me and said I cannot sell their products on amazon unless I raise my prices to match that of their online store (not ebays price i bought for) 100 more listed on there site.
She said I cannot sell on amazon because her retailer/ resellers are mad because all my prices are lower. also she said it was illegal for me to sell her bedding at a garage sale, craigslist or amazon.
if I want to list them on ebay to go ahead because no one cares about ebay.
Now she said a bunch of crap plus that she doesnt want to have to get legal and that i did not know i was breaking the law so raise my prices and its fine. Or she will repay my bid amount and NOT the 20.00 for each item shipped which was 25 items. If she knew i had them listed on amazon why did she ship them anyways?
Does anyone know what is legal and what is not?
Hi,
I want to become a reseller of IT products. Although, I can sell any products (legally) due to my flair in approaching and convincing people, but I believe I can do with more guidelines on how to start especially in approaching the producers or asking them about becoming a reseller of their items. Please can you help me?
Thank you,
Olu Israel
MISS, that is not legal, it is called price fixing. In a free market system you are allowed to sell items you own for whatever price you see fit. they might get mad at you and not sell any more items to you though. i suggest being a penny under their price. if your going to undercut someone you want to make as much money as you can while still undercutting them. so dont discount the bedding to much.
