How to devise a marketing plan.

  1. If you’re business is going to make any money, you’re going to have to let people know about what you do. You need to spend a great deal of time, do a great deal of research, and find out exactly how you’re going to market to your chosen marketing demographic. Most entrepreneurs use multiple marketing strategies to hit the same demographic so be prepared to use a variety of marketing arsenal.
  2. You need to write down exactly the different types of marketing you will be employing to hit your demographic, how much the marketing will cost, and the financial result you expect from the marketing. For example, for an in-home tutoring business, I plan on using 1,000 flyers in mailboxes, a tv commercial, and meetings with school guidance counselors which will cost me $400, and I’m expecting to make $3,000 off the marketing strategy.
  3. Track your results. Did the strategy produce the income you expected? If it did, great; if not, you need to change your strategy to ensure that you are getting close to your results.

I’m a professional business book how to writer which means that I meet with a lot of entrepreneurs to discuss their respective marketing plans. These entrepreneurs all stress the importance of having a strategy, having a goal, and modifying that strategy as needed to produce the desired results.
