How to Start a Unique Coffee & Espresso Business
Are you looking for a unique business idea? Here’s how to start a mobile coffee and espresso business.
The coffee bar business concept has really taken off in this country. While this market may be a bit saturated, there’s still a way to make significant amounts of money selling coffee. If you’re looking for a unique business idea that relates to the growing demand for coffee drinks, you may want to consider starting a mobile espresso bar.
How does the mobile espresso business operate? Your unique business would provide specialty coffee and espresso drinks at local events and private parties such as wedding receptions, bachelor parties, new store openings, business conventions and meetings, business holiday parties and any other special event where significant groups of people congregate. You can even set up your espresso bar business at outdoor fairs, craft shows, and festivals.
There is potentially a strong demand for your services as the sponsors of many businesses and private functions are reluctant to serve alcohol to their guests. Plus, coffee and espresso have recently come into favor due to their potential health benefits.
The start up costs for a mobile espresso coffee business shouldn’t be prohibitive relative to the costs of starting a full coffee store. You’ll need an espresso machine and all the accessories, including serving cups, coffee, and flavored coffee syrups. The tricky part will be supplying the power to your espresso machine when you’re outdoors. For this, you’ll need heavy gauge extension cords and a power source. It’s probably best to speak with the supplier of your espresso machine to see how this might best be handled.
Of course, you’ll need knowledge on how to produce a superior coffee drink. To learn this art, you may want to read some books on the topic as well as moonlight as a barista in a local coffee store to become more adept at the art of making superior coffee and espresso drinks.
To market your mobile coffee business and espresso bar, you can network with local caterers, wedding planners, real estate agents, and large and small businesses in your area. Have a colorful brochure printed up showing the benefits your mobile espresso business can provide. You’ll also want to keep abreast of local festivals, fairs, and productions coming to your area by joining your local Chamber of Commerce and any other relevant organizations. You can also advertise directly to the consumer that you can provide a mobile espresso bar for their wedding or private party.
The possibilities for a mobile espresso coffee business are endless. This unique business might be key to providing you with a satisfying and lucrative long term income.

This business is taking off big in Australia with no less than 4 franchises doing very well. One is starting up here in Georgia in November. The problem as I see it is winter. In the north winter makes this business very prohibited. It is a good idea that may need to be tweaked a bit for the US market though.
