  1. Go to your local county courthouse and purchase your business license. Get liability insurance, a business bank account, and set up your home-based office.
  2. Write your business plan. Segment your business plan into 12 monthly installments. Have a financial goal in mind with a plan to get to that goal. Write it down.
  3. Come up with your day care company policies and procedures and your methods for getting paid, preferably by credit card.
  4. Hire workers, do background checks, and have the workers fill out legal hire forms.
  5. Start marketing. Grass roots marketing is wonderful in this kind of business so take a plethora of flyers to dentist’s offices, doctor’s offices, toy stores, etc.
