Police Chase, Meth Lab Fire, and Tips for Real Estate Investments
Our stories – the good, the bad, the funny and the ugly side of Real Estate misadventures!
The Great Police Chase
I work at a Real Estate Investment company and the people, the incidents, and the stories we encounter make this job one wild ride! We always document each event and share it with potential Real Estate Investors, so they can learn from our misadventures. Beware of the quiet mornings when you arrive at work and there are no messages or emails in your in box. These are the days we stare at each other with anticipation. The silence before the storm.
One of those mornings we receive a call that two people were captured by police dogs and arrested on the front lawn of one of our properties for murder. This particular property is located in a small quiet farming family town. The locals tell us this is the first time this kind of criminal activity has ever happened in this particular town. And there it was in the front of the newspaper: our property with our company name in bold on the for sale sign and the criminals laying underneath it on their stomachs with their hands cuffed behind there back. Did I mention that this has NEVER happened in this quiet family town? Ha!

Damage to property: When the criminals were running from the police dogs that were after them they ran through our backyard and took down several fence boards which needed to be replaced.
Drug Experimenting Gone Bad
On the same day a fire breaks out from neighbors experimenting with drugs. The fence burned down and part of backyard due to illegal creation of drugs next door. Four individuals were arrested and of course arrested where? Our front lawn!
Damage to property: half fence needed to be replaced.
What we learned and a Tip for Real Estate Investors: ALWAYS expect the unexpected. There is no neighborhood too safe or too wonderful – the outrageous will and can happen at your properties. Be insured. Never let your property insurance lapse and have a handyman / contractor’s number on hand so your properties are back in shape quickly.

Hilarious (or not so, depending on your POV) happens when you least expect it!
