Catastrophic Home Business Killers You Must Avoid
These five “don’ts” can put an end to your home-based business!
There are many things to avoid when starting a personal home-based business. However, your support team may not share this information with you either because they just won’t or because they themselves do not know it.
Once you have everything set up, including your mind, to the commitment of owning a personal business, you need to sit down and plan your progress. Plot down how you can achieve certain goals and during what time frame.
Here are some DON’Ts if you are new to the home-based business and network marketing specialty.
- Do not get caught up in the hype: Don’t be blinded by what I call “beginners excitement” and go off on a spending frenzy because this senior person told you to buy this and that person told you to pay for such and such in order to advance quickly. Every penny that comes out of your pocket should be well calculated. Do not be impulsive - a habit many network marketers are guilty of.
- Do not think you will be successful/rich over night! Another recipe for disaster is to think that the moment you sign up in a home-based business, heaven’s doors will open for you and money will begin to fall out of the sky - not true. This is a slow and tedious process and sadly more than half of network marketers quit within the first year of sign-up as they are under the false impression that this is the lazy man’s way to becoming a millionaire. True work and much time and effort are required in a home-based business, just like any other business or job.
- Don’t start with your family and friends: Resist the common advice to first and foremost start with your family and friends. Though it may work, not all will sign up and that will plant a seed of hostility and the feeling of being let down by those you thought cared. In many cases friendships go sour and family ties loosen up a bit. Simply state to your loved ones that you have just signed up for a home-based business but do not request them to sign up as a favor and do not bully them by attempting to recruit them.
- Don’t change your home-based business too frequently: Network marketers change their home- based businesses as much as business men change their suits. Do not do that! Stick with one business and give it your best shot.
- Don’t MULTI-TASK: Don’t attempt to accomplish more than one thing at the same time. Focus on one thing at a time, do it right and master it, then move on to the second task. This applies to those of you who own more than one business. You need to focus on one business at a time and once you have one up and running, move on and focus on the second one. The same applies to perfecting your skills. If you are weak in prospecting, then focus on that till you master it and then move on to refine another skill, e.g: article writing.
