Do What You Love
About a concept that is not novel – doing what you love. In life, we have a choice to work for someone and make them rich, or enjoy what we do in order to earn a living. This is similar to going through life in loving, dealing with loss, and learning to continue on.
“Do what you love, the money will follow,” goes the old self-help adage from the 80s. That certainly has come through for Justin Sims and his wife, Belinda. After Justin had spent 12 years in the printing business, Justin felt it was time to do something he loved. And what he loved was a good cup of coffee.
So after researching lots of possibilities’ for buying businesses, bringing to their research the same attention to detail Justin had used as a printer, he and Belinda purchased Cafe Sierra in Botany Towns Mall.
They’ve built it into a part of the community by offering what everyone says is the best cup of coffee around, beating out such established players as Ronnie’s, Columbus, and Esquire’s for the “Best Local Coffee” award.
Cafe Sierra does a land-office business, in part because of the couple’s commitment to providing a savoury and healthy experience. Belinda supervises the preparation of healthy pastries, salads, and other tasty lunch and breakfast snacks. And the enthusiastic and friendly staff makes sure patrons remember their visits fondly.
Visitors comment frequently on the accessibility of the staff and how it’s possible to go to Cafe Sierra and make friends or just be left alone to read and relax. Belinda, especially, likes meeting new people. “The best part of it is talking to all types of people who are from all walks of life. A lot of our clients are happy people. It’s who we seem to attract,” says Belinda as she happily pops a new batch of pastries in the oven.
Perhaps happy people attract happy people. Justin and Belinda are happy doing something they love. “I just love making coffee; I seriously do,” says Justin. And it shows in the smile on his face and the cheerfulness with which he greets customers.
