When it comes to helping their citizens to put up their own small business the US government is one of the best. The US Government has been helping a lot of aspiring businessman’s and businesswomen to engage in a small business. Billions of Dollars has been spent and set aside to assist those who seek grant from the government.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing grants for people who want to start a small business. SBA was established by the government to provide assistance for those who want to engage in a small business but does not have the sufficient financial capability.

There are several programs of the government which is also assisting people financially to help them built a small business. These programs are mentored by Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer Program (STTR) and Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CDFA). The organizations mentioned are organizations the provide assistance to people who wants to engage in a small business. They do not only help them financially but they also help them in some technical aspects in putting up a small business.

Applying for a grant is not instant. The agency or organization will not come to you and offer you their services. Applicants should go directly to the agency and fill up required application forms and if necessary will be filling out some other forms. Some projects of the government may be qualified as loans. If you are a grant seeker, make it sure that the program you are applying for is not in a form of a loan. A loan is different from a grant, if you accidentally applied for a loan and got approved you will have to pay this back to them. Grants are not being paid back but you will have to abide with some of their requirements or regulations. A grant is practically an assistance to people who wants to engage in a small business.
