How to refurbish antiques and make money with it starting today.

Have you seen the program on BBC called antique road show?

Well the short of it is, people get invited to bring their antiques where it is rated as being valuable or not.

What you will hear most of the people saying is that many of them have much more antiques at home that are rare and really old, but they are almost falling apart. And at the same time they don’t have the money to spruce it up or make it shine again. Yes, not only do most of these people not have the money to make their antique shine, but they also don’t have the skill to do that even if they did require the money. So at the end of the day they will depend on a second or third party and put their baby in some one else’s hands.

This is where you step in.

Start your own re-upholstered business. This is a skill that is not difficult to learn. You can even teach yourself but that might take a little longer.

Or just take a quick course at www.upholster.com

Then get a few people that’s willing to work and eager to learn. I would start with at least two. Teach them what you have learned, and you are of to a willing start.

Then after your initial training has finished, make sure you register yourself as a interior decorator at big or small fabric houses. That way you insure yourself a discount on the fabric you buy. The amount of discount however will depend on the amount of fabric you buy.

When your are finished setting up and have come to master your new skill, start putting it into practice. Advertise you work at interior fabric shops, at fabric shops and at antique furnishes. Show them your options and give them an idea of what their end product may be.

Remember to think boldly, and keep your options open but always do exactly as your customer requires, or keep the results as close as possible to what they had envisioned.

You can easily charge anything between $100 and $150 for the labor on a simple yet basic two-seater couch that would exclude your fabric which would be added separate to your mark-up.

Remember to keep the quality of your work top notch that way you can make yourself known. Because your overheads will be really low you should see your profits rolling in as soon as next week.
