Systems Driven Profit for Gc’s and Subcontractors
Systems Driven Profit For GC’s and Subcontractors.
In this bestseller The E-Myth, Michael E. Gerber argues that most small business owners are not born entrepreneurs. Instead, many of us what he calls, the technicians, who have created a business for a number of reasons, not least, is the opportunity to work in our business on our own terms. In this case, I make the argument that if many of us are not “born entrepreneurs” We still have to apply management principles to manage our business.
So how can we become more skilled businessmen? The economic challenges we face now, non-profit is the best place to start. This should be our number one priority. It is profit which keeps us in business. Without it, it fails to offer such a quality project, ensuring customer service supervisor. In our company, job quality has been historically the most profitable. The two go hand in hand. We tell our artists the same thing every day. “If you can do something good for the second time, could have done well the first time. Sometimes, not even listening.
A message for the general contractor on your behalf subs’; some help. Why? The answer is in your best interest and gives your customer a better job. As submarines, when deciding where and how to allocate our resources, wherever you get? At work, where does the GC as difficult as possible to obtain a benefit or a job where the GC not only allows us to obtain an advantage, but also facilitates us? Quality and customer service are our means of profit, so do not worry about us “shortcuts”. Our goal is profitability and long-term contract renewals.
This leads to the question every day of the GC. What to do with the proposal that seems to good to be true? This is usually a sub-working group that has little, and brags contains no profit. It contains enough to keep people from its work head. Flee. Fast. I say this because I am a subcontractor. There are two very good reasons. A sub-group does not make a profit has no incentive to give the best of people, which is also cost more money. Secondly, what happens when the sub gets a job with a real benefit in it? Not only will you not have your best people, you will not receive any people. Everything will be sent to task for profit. Subs not encouraging you say they are not interested in making a profit. They will lie about other things too.
In addition to profitability, if we operate as businesses, we must use standard operating procedures for all. In short, we need systems and we must use again and again. Each calculation, working folder, invoices, warranties, etc. must be the same. We have a system for every aspect of our business. If the PM is sick, one of us can open your work files and navigate through them, as if creating them ourselves. Being a slave to your systems and you’ll never be a slave to your business.
The disciplined use of systems is an important step towards the realization of the E-Myth to create an organization that allows you to work “in their business rather than in their business.” Even if you are involved in every aspect of your business, you’ll never be able to grow your business. You will not be able to see the forest through the trees. When we committed to do so after having been in business for 5 years, we gave all our accounts to our project managers and put us completely removed from daily operations of the award and project management. It was difficult, but allowed us to devote more time to increase the value of our company. Although all of us, the company had little value. If you have removed us, there was no society. Equally important, we can live a normal life after 5 years of work weeks from 70 to 80 hours. Ultimately, it allowed us to proceed with the expansion of our commercial painting business through franchising.
These are tough economic times we face. Non-profit, regular use and efficient systems and work “in their business, rather than in your business” must be in the top of our priority list. By practicing these principles, we will be able to enjoy Recovery to a degree far greater than our competition.
