First are the trends of government. There are several different sources caused by changes in regulations, tax policies and legal precedence. Most of these are not a direct result of what we’re doing in our business, but are the result of political and social changes. On the legal side, the changes in the outcome of court cases. It is absolutely necessary to deal with these changes because of double jeopardy in both the financial and legal. The result will be not only changes in our business plans, but also our business conduct.

Second are the economic trends. These changes occur because the local, national and international environment changes. Typical of these trends are changes in inflation rates, interest rates and comparative value of the currency (exchange rates). Note that all these changes are directly and indirectly the effects of government actions. These trends are forcing us to adapt our business plan to the new conditions.

We follow the technology trends. The amount of effect that these trends have on our business directly depends on the impact of changes in our current operations. For example, if we are making vacuum tubes when they integrated circuits, we must make some important changes. Please note that changes in our business plan can mean the acquisition or learning new technologies, retraining of our people, or finding new customers and products. The inventors, with changes in the product life cycle or the adoption of new ideas, usually drive these trends. We can prepare for these changes to keep up with trends, new developments and what our competitors are doing. This can mean new sources of raw materials, different marketing techniques, or perhaps the loss or the appearance of a new market.

Finally, cultural trends have a direct impact on our business plan and business environment. The customer demographics are changing, new social concerns can be new and evolving lifestyles. If our customers move to the cities in the country, our company will be affected not only what we sell, but also in how we deliver it. Also, as social change, consciousness, acceptable business practices will change. These could include environmental and social programs. For example, the government could require a business to provide a certain level of retirement benefits. These trends often burden businesses with new costs and unplanned, but must be assimilated into the business plan to remain a viable enterprise.

If we make changes in our business operations to become environmentally friendly, employee friendly, or modern technology of our business is new public interest-bearing leading to new sales. We also get free advertising that positively impacts our business credibility and stature. Regardless of the additional benefits to our business, must be constantly aware and open to new directions for our business plan and should not stagnate or become less functional in a changing environment.
