Critically Examine The View That The Only Responsibility of Business is to Meet The Needs of Customers or Clients, and So Produce Profits for Shareholders
The issue of business responsibility is very controversial in business community. Some contend that the responsibility of business is to maximize profits for its shareholders within the rules of the game, a narrow view represented by Milton Friedman (Shaw & Barry, 1998). Others hold a broader view, contending that over and above profit maximization, business has other responsibilities as well, to customers, to their employees and to society at large (Shaw & Barry, 1998).
